Zion Is Truly Embracing The Fat Guy Mentality By Reportedly Still Refusing To Listen To The Pelicans About His Diet And Conditioning
This is how I know it's the heart of the NBA season. The moment we get a report about Zion being overweight it really starts everything. It starts trade rumors, it starts the debate on him. I want to applaud him. He's just embracing fat guy mentality. You don't necessarily have to be fat for the mentality, it can come with age or maturity. You look around, say fuck it, and go back for seconds on some crawfish etouffee. Ain't nothing wrong with that. Crawfish etouffee is as an elite meal, one of the best you can have.
But now we're reaching a breaking point with Zion. He's not the best player on the Pelicans. He's somewhat forgotten about when you start listing the young stars. Hell even in his own draft class he's no longer THE guy. But you also now have Shaq calling him out.
It's honestly gotten to the point where the Pelicans either need to trade Zion or just embrace this is who he is. He's going to be out of shape and never the dominant guy for the entire season we thought he would be. Brutal, but honest. He's a hell of a player, but it's in spurts. He's not doing in every single night for an entire season and playoffs. You see him one night and think he's All-NBA and then follows it up with an average game. That's what happens when you put him in New Orleans. People don't survive long weekends there and now you're asking a rich kid to survive in the NBA. No shot.
I would do anything to be in the room to listen to these conversations. I need to know who exactly is saying what. Are some players starting to speak up? The article mentions how the Pelicans brought in JJ Redick and CJ McCollum to try and help him. Hell this is far from the first time we've heard a Zion story like this.
Zion needs to do one thing now to make it a true, hilarious story. Demand a trade while holding a giant bowl of gumbo. Others sit out? Zion's just gonna eat in their faces.
