#HealthyDebate: Are Christmas Lights Getting A Free Pass Because Fireworks Catch So Much Shit For Being Lame?

Just a thought as I sit at my desk and watch Vibbs google gross things for Lowering The Bar. I do not in any way want to sound like a Grinch, but why do Christmas Lights get a free pass when Fireworks get roasted for being lame? Again, love Christmas time, magical magical time. Even during shitty years when it seems like things aren't going great a good Christmas can change it all up. Although it sure does seem like Christmas lights are nearly identical to Fireworks in the sense that once you have seen one, you have kind of seen them all.

If you don't believe me that people have turned the tide on Fireworks, look no further than the self proclaimed "Hater Of The Year" and his very critical (and accurate) take on fireworks.

Fireworks can be fun but I very much agree to the point that there's not much change year after year. Also never once, ever on earth would I want to see the video someone took on their phone. Yet every July, there's truckloads of people setting off Fireworks and people navigating their day/night around planning to see fireworks.

Somehow though 6 months later, Christmas lights are walking unscathed in the streets. To which I ask, aren't Christmas lights eerily similar to fireworks? We plan nights or a day around going to see lights. "Gotta see the lights, gotta see this setup, go up to that neighborhood ... they got great lights."

I'm not saying we cut out Christmas lights altogether what I am saying is maybe we reconsider the obsession with them as they are pretty redundant. If I had to guess I would say Christmas lights will never get the wrath like fireworks because a lot of times, Christmas things are untouchable but just consider it the next time you are out in the cold freezing your ass off looking at lights thinking "I've seen these before", that I was the first one to ask the question on why people care about them so much.
