It Doesn't Sound Like Margot Robbie Wants To Play Harley Quinn Anymore

Margot Robbie recently spoke to Variety about her future as Harley Quinn, and uhhhh - it doesn't sound good!

VARIETY: "Margot, you played Harley Quinn in three films (2016’s “Suicide Squad,” 2020’s “Birds of Prey,” which LuckyChap produced, and 2021’s “The Suicide Squad”). Are you hanging up Harley’s bat now that Lady Gaga is playing the character in the upcoming “Joker: Folie à Deux”?"

ROBBIE: "I always wanted Harley to be a character that would get passed on to other actresses to play, the way there are so many iconic male characters. That was always the dream for her. Harley’s so fun and can go in so many different directions. You put her in someone else’s hands, and it’s like, “What are they going to do with her?” The options are endless."

"Hey Margot, are you ever gonna play Harley Quinn again?"

"Hopefully other actresses do that, thanks!"

Lady Gaga is set portray Dr. Harleen Quinzel in the upcoming 'Joker' sequel 'Folie à Deux' - which is an "Elseworlds" musical taking place outside of the new DCU continuity....

….but it doesn't sound like Margot Robbie is gonna return as Harley Quinn in the near future, unless DC backs up the BRINKS truck.

I gotta admit, I really thought Margot was one of the few actors who would remain and make the transition from the "old" DCEU to the new James Gunn Universe, because she was amazing in 'The Suicide Squad' and seems to be great friends with Gunn.

Stepping away makes sense too, though, especially after the success of 'Barbie' - which Robbie had a hand in producing, something she wants to do more of. She's also played Harley Quinn in 'Suicide Squad', 'Birds of Prey', and 'The Suicide Squad' at this point and she's gotten a LOT out of that character - and the universe reset would give her a good excuse to hang up the mallet.

It's just a shame she only got to be in one really good movie as Harley (sorry 'Birds of Prey' fans, that movie bored me to tears) for how perfect the casting was. We'll always have this amazing hallway fight scene, though….

Alright, put it back in your pants, perverts.
