Nick Saban Shredding Some Tasty Waves On A Boogie Board Taking You Into The Weekend

Much like cargo shorts, boogie boarding has gotten unjustifiably shit on over the years. I think a large part of it is due to the character Squid from Rocket Power. Everybody wanted to be Otto or Reggie or even Twister. Nobody wanted to be Squid.

And I get it. Boogie boarding takes a lot less skill and energy than surfing does. But that's what makes it so great. Anybody can hop on a board and catch a few waves out there. Get some good long rides, get tossed around a bit as you're coming into shore, it's exhilarating. Boogie boarding rips. And there's never been a better endorsement for how much boogie boarding rules than the sheer childlike exuberance on Nick Saban's face after that wave.

We've watched that man on the sideline at Bryant-Denny every Saturday for the past 17 seasons. How many times have you actually seen Nick Saban smile? How many times do you think he's experienced true joy? Definitely less than 10. But here he is after just one quick wave on a boogie board where he didn't even really get a chance to ride it, and he's happier than a pig in shit. So here's to hoping everyone attacks this weekend with the same energy Nick Saban attacked that wave. You've earned it.
