Bud Light is Replacing Dylan Mulvaney With The One and Only..... Shane Gillis!

NY Post - Comedian Shane Gillis will partner with beer brand Bud Light following a dismal year for the brand, according to a company post on Instagram.

“Welcome to the team @shanemgillis, excited to be a part of your 2024 tour,” the beer brand posted.

“Excited to announce partnership with Bud Light #budlightpartner,” Gillis posted to his Instagram account.

Bud Light sales plummeted last year after news broke that the brand had partnered with transgender influencer and activist Dylan Mulvaney.

Mulvaney was announced as a Bud Light spokesperson to promote the March Madness basketball tournament in April, which prompted a months-long boycott of the brand.

Reading the last sentence of that snippet reminds me just how hilarious Bud Light's decision to hire Dylan Mulvaney as their blue-collar American beer spokesperson to promote March Madness. Hindsight is 20/20 and all, but how was that expected to go? The more I think about it, it's so outrageous I'm starting to wonder if it was intentional. If somehow pissing off your entire fan base and plummeting sales by a million percent is some sort of long play that's beyond any of our comprehension. In a dark basement somewhere inside Anheuser-Busch HQ, there's just Charlie Kelly staring at a wall full of pictures and graphs connected by long colorful yarns that map out Bud Light's long-term plan to completely bury themselves, then rise from the ashes like a Phoenix and come out more powerful and more American than ever.

Shoutout Pepe Silvia.

But more likely than not they just took MASSIVE swing at a new demographic and severely underestimated the vitriol Dylan Mulvaney would draw by sipping a cold Bud Light.

Shane Gills seems like a much safer play. Which is kind of funny to say, seeing as just a few years ago he was booted off SNL for being "too problematic". I'm sure Shane will do great with Bud Light, but you have to imagine he's constantly looking over his shoulder, racking his brain thinking, "Fuck fuck fuck I hope they don't find what I said about Filipinos in 2020."

It would be objectively hilarious if he got the rug pulled out from underneath him again. And once again it would probably be the best thing for his career. He's already a hero from overcoming cancel culture once. Imagine if he got to run that back for a second time? Like when Dave got a Deflategate do-over with Michigan this year. Shane already has the playbook. It'd be like shooting a great white shark crammed into a barrel.

I'm not sure what Bud Light has in store for Shane Gillis other than having him join them for their 2024 Bud Light Tour. I'm assuming he'll be performing on it. But if Bud Light has any balls… If they really want to swing for the fences… I've got a great idea. It'll either be a home run, or will set Bud Light back another 10 years. I'd have Shane write a commercial. Give him free reign to do whatever he wants. The only requirement is that the commercial must feature Dylan Mulvaney. Hire her back to do one more commercial, and let Shane have full creative freedom. There are so many options there. You can't tell me he couldn't whip up something hysterical. Some people will love it, some people will hate it, some people will have a massive internal conflict over whether or not they love it or hate it. That commercial would make some serious noise. Think about it Bud Light.
