Masters Of The Air Roundtable Discussion - Episodes 1 & 2 - Feat Chaps, Chief, Cons, N. Smokes, and Raccoon Boy
From the folks behind Band of Brothers and The Pacific we get the latest mini series about World War 2 which follows the "Bloody Hundredth" - the 100th Bomb Group charged with daytime bombing missions onboard B17 Flying Fortresses to disrupt the Nazi war effort.
What a crew we put together for this discussion - me, Chaps, Chief, Racoon Boy, and Nicky Smokes.
Truth be told, I was extremely pumped to have those guys on to discuss this show. Chaps and I have talked military movies and shows a ton over the years and it's been enjoyable. However, we both come from a military background so we largely bring the same vantage point to those discussions. With the civilians, we had questions and opinions that were fresh so it made for a lively discussion that went directions we otherwise might not have reached. Not to mention, those three guys all have a penchant for history, war documentaries, and good TV so you had five guys all invested.
The biggest challenge for this show will ultimately be comparison to the two series that came before it as Chaps' aptly points out. It is human nature to compare and to go up against arguable the greatest mini series ever is a tall task.
We run the gamut during this sit down - episodes 1&2 of MOTA, Chaps' and my war experience, Band of Brothers. and everything in between. More to follow as the series progresses. Enjoy!
