Someone Had The Nerve To Arrest Darius Rucker On Drug Charges, Now He's The Newest Member Of The Celebrity Mugshot Club

NY Post - Country star Darius Rucker was arrested in Tennessee on Thursday on minor drug offenses.

A spokesperson for the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office in Tennessee confirmed to The Post that Rucker, 57, was booked on three separate charges.

The Hootie & the Blowfish member was charged with two counts of simple possession/casual exchange of a controlled substance and one count of a violation of the state’s vehicle registration law.

In layman’s terms, Rucker was allegedly involved in a drug handoff and law enforcement claimed his tags were expired.

Congratulations are in order for Darius. He's made the list. Donald Trump, Michael Jackson, O.J. Simpson, Lindsay Lohan, Jussie Smollett, and now Darius Carlos Rucker are all members of the prestigious, and not at all exclusive, celebrity mugshot club.

However, if I were scoring celebrity mugshots based on a combination of 'how bad they look in the picture' & 'severity of crime', Darius doesn't score too high. He doesn't look especially great in that picture. But he looks about exactly as you'd expect. Obviously not smiling, doesn't appear overly fucked up, no crazy hair or facial blemishes, eyes both pointing in the same direction. As far as viral mugshots go, Darius could have done a lot worse.

On top of that, the man was merely involved in a gentleman's exchange of drugs. What are we doing Williamson County Sheriff's office? What are we doing America? We can't just let the Blowfish buy some drugs without turning into a national headline that's low hanging fruit for an easy Barstool Sports blog? Does this performance not earn him the right to acquire a personal sack whenever he pleases?

Let the man be. If anybody would respect the privacy of Darius Rucker I'd think it'd be a sheriff in Tennessee. Because of the country music. Except I guess he... never mind. Not that the legal repercussions of a misdemeanor will have even the slightest affect on Darius Rucker's life, except from maybe having to shell out a little money to pay a guy to make drug runs for him in the future. He'll be fine I'm sure.

But aside from that, doesn't having your viral mugshot circulated around the entire internet kinda seem harsh for just buying drugs? Everybody buys drugs. Anybody who says they've never bought drugs is a liar. Or you're at least someone who I don't have anything in common with. Sorry for drawing more attention to your mugshot Darius. I'm a big fan.
