Dave Grohl Barbecued 70 Pork Butts For A Homeless Shelter In California On Super Bowl Sunday
Consequence- While the rest of us were chowing down on chips and wings on our sofas, Dave Grohl spent his Super Bowl Sunday barbecuing for the homeless.
According to Hope of the Valley, Grohl and his friends donated over 24 hours of their time to barbecuing 70 pork butts for The Woodlands Family Shelter in Woodland Hills, California.
“Thank you to Dave and his friends from his studio for hanging out with us and spreading love through a hot meal,” Hope of the Valley wrote in an Instagram post that also included footage of Grohl and co. in action.
Grohl has donated his time and BBQ skills to feed the homeless on multiple occasions in recent years. Back in December, he spent a day off from Foo Fighters’ Australian tour feeding the homeless in Melbourne, Australia. Before that, he spent more than 18 hours behind a smoker cooking for at-risk people impacted by winter storms in Southern California.
Foo Fighters are due back on the road beginning in April for a lengthy tour that includes shows and festival appearances across North America, the UK, and Europe. Tickets are available here.
"I'VE GOT ANOTHER CONFESSION PORK BUTT TO MAKE!!!" -Dave Grohl
This week in: Dave Grohl being a great guy - the Foo Fighters frontman spent all of Super Bowl Sunday barbecuing 70 pork butts for the homeless in California this weekend!
It isn't the first time he's done something like this, but it's pretty awesome to hear he and his friends put in over 24 hours to make the big game a little more special for The Woodlands Family Shelter. Once again - he's proven as the epitome of what a rockstar should be. He's headlined the biggest rock n' roll shows in the world and been in two of the most popular bands of all time, and yet he still has the drive to give back to the community like this.
From everything I've heard, Grohl loves barbecuing for people almost as much as he likes playing music for them at this point. He talked about his love of the BBQ with Sean Evans on Hot Ones a few years back….
(Great episode, highly recommended- he gets Sean pretty drunk)
I'm not the BIGGEST barbecue guy myself (can you tell by my SlenderMan like frame?), but I also haven't tried a lot of really good barbecue food. I was actually pretty blown away by Jordie's skills when he brought a brisket to our Army/Navy tailgate a couple years ago, come to think about it….so if Dave is half as good as he is, I gotta try his meat.
I mean - I gotta try his barbecuing. That's what I meant to say.
Anyway, check out Dave, Big Cat, and the gang try to break the NBA record for consecutive free throws….
It has been oddly captivating thus far. They got as close as three shots away from doing it before….
Heartbreak city. It's gonna be amazing when they eventually do it, though.
