Big Brain Move: Sean McVay Hired A Guy Specifically To Make Sure He Doesn't Blow Timeouts For No Reason Like He Did Against The Lions

I know Sean McVay gets praised for being a big brain type of guy, but this? This is something every single team should have. I'm far from the first person to talk about how Madden players understand timeouts, game management, when to go for it, etc. Every single NFL team should have someone like that on staff. It seems so simple, but NFL coaches panic. That's just a fact. They get lost in worrying about a 5-yard penalty or something like that and blow a timeout.

Hell, McVay did just that against the Lions in the playoffs. He blew two timeouts early in the half, didn't have them late. He didn't know or remember or whatever call timeout before the 2-minute warning, wasting more time. Lions end up running the clock out. It's so simple! I mean we're all regular ass people and we scream about it all the time. So let anyone who is somewhat smart on the staff to handle this for you. At least then you can put the blame on someone else if they screw it up.

Not to mention, think about how many people are on a staff for football teams? There are a thousand coaches and coordinators and special assistants and everything else. If every team doesn't have a guy to help them out with the basic stuff like this they are a step behind.*

*Except Dan Campbell. Good luck telling that man to do anything different than what his gut says.

I just refuse to sit back and stay quiet watching teams blow a timeout to save 5 yards on 1st down because of a potential delay of game call. The way we see offenses move and get DPI's called in the game today? 5 yards is basically nothing now. Now it's up to McVay to listen. This is just smart though. Credit to McVay for realizing he needed to do something to help out here.
