MARCH MADNESS IS HERE - North Alabama's KJ Johnson Hits A Ridiculous Buzzer Beater To Upset Lipscomb In The Atlantic Sun Tournament
It took the 2nd day of conference tournaments for me to feel a certain way that only one thing can. March. It's the best feeling in the world. There's nothing like it in sports or life. We've all been part of this shot as fans, whether the right or wrong side. Fucking Luke Maye. But that moment the ridiculous seems to be 'nothing' is what March is about. That shot is absurd yet KJ Johnson makes it look so simple considering it was a pure swish.
Oh and to amplify things even more, Johnson transferred two years ago ... from Lipscomb. Nothing like beating your old team, who was the 2nd favorite to win the conference tournament. The favorite? No. 1 EKU who lost to No. 10 an hour before this:
This is why we can't lose conference tournaments. That's my biggest fear with expansion to the NCAA Tournament and weird shit like that happening. We need this in our lives, especially with mid-majors. The A-Sun knows they are a 1-bid league and it's been mayhem for two days. Shit, Austin Peay just won in OT as we speak, meaning we have just 2 of the top 4 teams in the semifinals. That's the beauty of this stupid, wonderful sport.
March, baby. March.
PS: Can we get some enthusiasm here on the game-winner? You don't have to go full Gus Johnson but I expect a little Kevin Harlan in the call.
