Boise State's Reaction To Being Screwed And Having To Play In The First Four Is Why We Need To Get Rid Of The Tournament Committee

I'm gonna bang this drum as loudly as possible on this here website, that's a promise. Look at this reaction from Boise State. It perfectly sums up how goddamn stupid this committee was. We need to get rid of it. I'm not talking about 12 new ADs, I'm talking about the whole process. You need people in that room who 1) watch basketball and 2) understand what team sheets mean and how to evaluate teams. It's as simple as that. The process is flawed and it's just straight up screwing teams. We know the Big East only getting 3 in is a joke, but Boise State going to Dayton as one of the last 4 teams in is just asinine.

Here's the problem besides who makes up the committee. Look at what they are saying. It makes no sense because no one knows what they truly looked at.

McClleland is all over the place. He mentions they looked at nonconference strength of schedule, but there were a lot of upsets and road wins. He flat out admits what's important to him isn't important to other committee members. He even talks about injuries and why they should matter. Oh and talks about no bad losses and quality wins. Then how do we get here? How does FAU - a team I love and is talented - an 8 seed? They have horrible losses. How is Boise, who played the 26th toughest nonconference schedule, no bad losses and a bunch of good wins fall to the last four in?

There's gotta be a solution here. Obviously we're looking at a shit ton of teams for limited spots. First, stop the 'scrubbing' they do. You can't look at teams 1 on 1 and gotta look at them in groups. We have all these metrics, if they matter, use them. Get rid of the committee and put in a system that spits out some formula of all the metrics. That takes away bias and everyone knows what they are playing for then. I don't prefer that, but then we can't scream about the committee.

The biggest problem, again, is no one knows what the committee truly cares about. They come out with all this bullshit after the bracket and it gets ripped to shreds. I hate the idea of a weekly or something reveal, but we're at the point we might need it. Let these teams know what the hell they are playing for here. Before the season there needs to be a clear direction of what the committee is valuing, it helps with scheduling. The other thing is it's not the 'best' 36 at-large teams (though it should be), they look at the 36 'most deserving.' Okay, well what gets you in the deserving category.

The reaction says it all.
