Checks Out: Colorado State's Head Coach Doesn't Think Everyone Knows How Good The Mountain West Is Because People Go To Sleep Early

Is Niko Medved a Barstool fan? All everyone is talking about is people going to bed. You know what? Not today. We can't do that today, not on the most important day of the year. Instead we're going to talk about the MWC instead and how much I love this quote. You could make a legit argument that the MWC was the most fun league this year. They had 6 teams make the Tournament, all rightfully so and every game in the regular season had some sort of drama. It basically was the Pac-12 After Dark football equivalent. I know some teams can be boring - looking at you, San Diego State. But for the most part the offenses are fun as hell to watch.

I'll say outside of obvious rooting interests, this is what my eyes are on the most in the NCAA Tournament. The Mountain West has been a disaster for the most part in the Tournament. San Diego State made the run last year, but other than that? A lot of first round exits. Last year Nevada lost in the First Four, Utah State/Boise State in the first round. Year before that Wyoming lost in the First Four and Boise State/Colorado State/San Diego State all lost in the first round. You get the point. They need multiple teams to at least win a game in the first round here.

Thing is they are set up to win here too. San Diego State is a 5 seed. New Mexico is favored as an 11 seed. Nevada plays Dayton in a 1 point spread. Same goes for TCU and Colorado State, all games are within 3 points spread wise. Can't put up 0 wins. You need some of these guys to advance and change the narrative of the MWC in the NCAA Tournament. One San Diego State run to the title game doesn't do that. If that was the case people wouldn't talk about how the Big 10 and a west coast team haven't won in two decades.

I don't think he's wrong necessarily. People get to bed early. It's what old people do. You see the big game over, maybe it's a blowout at halftime with a 9pm tip. Go get yourself some shut eye and get ready for a 'real' job the next morning. Then you miss out on the important stuff. Like MWC after dark - which you can't steal, Niko. Gotta come up with a new saying for late night games. Either way, I love him just saying people fell asleep. It's a great excuse for anything.
