Billie Eilish Shades Artists Like Taylor Swift For Releasing Multiple Versions of Vinyl Albums

SOURCE - “I can’t even express to you how wasteful it is. It is right in front of our faces and people are just getting away with it left and right, and I find it really frustrating as somebody who really goes out of my way to be sustainable and do the best that I can and try to involve everybody in my team in being sustainable — and then it’s some of the biggest artists in the world making f–king 40 different vinyl packages that have a different unique thing just to get you to keep buying more. It’s so wasteful, and it’s irritating to me that we’re still at a point where you care that much about your numbers and you care that much about making money — and it’s all your favorite artists doing that sh-t.”

Okay, tea. I honestly agree with Billie Eilish here, BUT she is a hypocrite in this situation. Billie did the same exact thing with her own album.

She literally splattered paint over a bunch of vinyls too and claimed that they were "signed".

She released over 11 different versions of her vinyl. Is that not wasteful Billie? These vinyls were also NOT made of recycled material. People also think that she is shading just Taylor Swift with this statement. Taylor has only released 5 different versions of 'The Tortured Poets Department' so far. Olivia Rodrigo has released 10+ for 'Guts' and 'Guts: Spilled'.

Artists are gonna keep doing this because it counts towards album sales and breaking chart records. I just find it SO annoying to put exclusive songs on exclusive vinyls. Even with Taylor Swift!!!! Taylor and Olivia did the same thing where they released 4 different vinyls with 4 different exclusive songs. This makes fans like me want to buy them!

I always knew it was really expensive to make vinyl but I didn't realize how wasteful it is. I do collect vinyl but I try to limit myself with buying a different version of the same thing. I just don't see the point of it. Billie should start putting her money where her mouth is when releasing a new album. No vinyl variants for Billie!
