'X-Men 97' Clapping Back At A Joke In The Original 'X-Men' Movie From 2000 Is Awesome
Back in the late 90s, when Bryan Singer/Marvel were developing the very first live-action X-Men movie, a big talking point was, of course - what the super suits would look like. The X-Men had some of the brightest and most iconic suits in Marvel comics history, but in the eyes of the filmmakers, those suits wouldn't be taken seriously in this more grounded, darker universe (and The Matrix had just been a smash hit, so black leather was IN) much to the chagrin of the fans.
They included this little wink/nod in reference to the OG suits in the movie, which is one of its most memorable lines in my opinion....

Simply tremendous - and another one of those little reasons why 'X-Men 97' is the best show on television right now, and arguably the best X-Men adaptation we've ever seen. The writers seem to know what the fans want before the fans even know what they want, and they have knocked each and every installment of this season out of the park thus far. It's like a male soap opera and grown up version of the cartoon from the 90s put together! There's real stakes, big character deaths, great dialogue, beautiful animation, unbelievable attention to detail, and it's even really funny! I'm so glad they chose to shine a spotlight on a character like Morph and give Wolverine (who we've seen a LOT of already) a little backseat. Plus we get to hear that sweet, sweet intro music every week…
