Back: Kentucky Landed A Commitment From Kerr Kriisa, The Sport's Biggest Asshole And A Man Who Once Started An Altercation With Luka
In the words of Kentucky's coaching staff via twitter. Boom. This is the exact sort of guy you want on your team (as long as he knows his role). Every team needs an asshole. Marquette was good because Tyler Kolek was that. Arizona won the Pac-12 with Kriisa because he embraced being the asshole. Someone who every other fanbase hates, can go score 20, talk as much shit as possible and knows who he is. Now Kentucky got it with a guy who wasted no time nearly starting an international altercation with Luka:
Point, Kriisa.
And look, I know the downside and cons to Kriisa. I've watched far too much Arizona/WVU basketball to not know that. His shot selection can be poor, but he's also never played for Mark Pope. Plus, he's not option 1. A little guy who is the best shooter in the country is option 1 for those shots.
The key here is Pope is building a team. Not NBA talent, not just 'give me the best guys and roll the ball out' but an actual team that makes sense. He's got defensive stars, he's got shooters, he's got depth and he's not done. But here's what I know, we got our asshole.
This man is going to thrive inside Rupp Arena. I'm not dumb, Kentucky fans are loud, cocky and we want players like that. Kriisa is just that. Back.
