Billionaire's Wife Bullies Woman For Instagram Handle, Internet Responds By Creating 50+ Accounts With Versions Of The Handle She Wants

Last week the r/NYCinfluencersnark subreddit blew up when someone posted about the new wife of a billionaire being cringe in their DMs.

Katherine Driscoll Asplundh, recently married to Asplundh heir Cabot Asplundh, wanted to update her Instagram handle with that shiny, new last name real bad. Asplundh does vegetation management, engineering, and utility infrastructure businesses & are one of the top 100 private companies in the U.S. worth over $5.42B. (Fun fact, Dr. Oz also married into this family but that's neither here nor there so anyways back to Katherine...). Unfortunately there was another, likely lower tax-bracketed, Katherine Asplundh already out there who was using the handle.  Mrs. Asplundh clearly wasn't used to not getting her way and decided she was still gonna go for it by trying to intimidate the other woman who dared have the same name as her.

Here's the messages:

"I actually don't believe that your name is Katherine Asplundh…"

"Just did and my fiancé is too".

Holy entitlement/delusion, Batman!

Glad the other Katherine wasn't having it despite the super weird threats to get the account taken away.

Interweb sleuths (sigh) were quick to find her TikTok account & gleefully snatched up an old video of her talking about how tacky it is when women change their last names on social media too soon. People have also come out of the woodwork allegedly from her hometown and don't have the kindest things to say. And, naturally, the internet continued to pile on by creating no less than 51 other Katherine Asplundh accounts thus far.

But - spoiler alert - living an extremely charmed life in a billionaire family bubble appears to soften the blow of social media dramas kicked up by us poors. Katherine followed the classic protocol of continuing to post but with the comments turned off for about a week, and now they're on a very fancy honeymoon and the comments are back on and the world keeps spinning. No matter how much random internet strangers dislike her she's gonna to be just fine, and we were entertained in the meantime. Ultimately I'm team poorer Katherine, but thanks to the new Mrs. Asplundh for making my time on the toilet more enjoyable this morning.
