The Consensus In Cleveland Is That The Guardians City Connect Jerseys Are Either The Best Or Worst Uniforms Ever Designed

So after a little slip up on Saturday night where someone pressed the wrong button and leaked the Guardians City Connect jerseys early, Major League Baseball officially presented these uniforms to the public yesterday. And in true internet fashion, the consensus is very clear: half of Cleveland thinks these are absolutely perfect, and half of Cleveland thinks they are the worst designed uniforms in the history of clothing.

I'll get my two cents out of the way: I don't love them. But to be clear, it's mostly because I'm not a fan of alternate uniforms and/or changing jerseys in general. Shockingly, I wish the Tribe were still trotting out the same Chief Wahoo stamped threads they wore in the 90s when I grew up, while the Cavs were rocking the black, baby blue, and orange. But everyone has to squeeze another dollar out of the consumer these days.....

....and pair the price tag of a new jersey with the weak leadership in Cleveland, and we've got new uniforms every couple weeks now.

As for these specific City Connects, I appreciate the effort someone put into the symbolism behind them.

That's fine and all, but we're embracing things like the Berea sandstone and the Guardians of Traffic, two things in why I would say over half of Cleveland baseball fans didn't even know what they were 3 years ago, like they are the pride of the city. This will be the last time I mention it for at least 24 hours, but you know what used to be the pride of the city?

So cool, so crisp, so clean. And now we're glazing our shorts over….these socks?

I don't know, I don't mean to hate. But I just think if we're alluding to the history of the city and the history of the organization, we'd left out the very biggest thing.

Final Note: one huge positive from these jerseys is that the Guardians logo they used for these City Connects should 100.0% replace the dumbass baseball and wings logo they trotted out with the name change.

If we can't scrap the Guardians all together, can we please keep these logos on the sleeves of our uniforms moving forward?
