Coleman Hawkins Knows The Key To A Good Time In College - Transferring From Illinois, Wants To Go To A School Where He Can Enjoy A Football Game

Coleman Hawkins is coming back to college basketball. Good. Call me crazy, but I want guys like Coleman Hawkins back in college basketball. It's good for the sport. It's the biggest positive for NIL - guys are coming back and spending more time in the sport. At the same time, he's transferring from Illinois. He's also an old school transfer, spent 4 years at Illinois and is now leaving.

I say all that to set up what he's looking for - money and good college football. That's just what every person should be doing. There's nothing like a college football Saturday on campus. Make the jokes about Kentucky football you want, but some of the best days during my 4 years there were beating No. 1 LSU in 2007, top-10 Louisville when Stevie go loose, a Georgia team with Matthew Stafford. You don't want to go to a school with no football or a program that doesn't have anything to offer. Go be a college kid and tailgate a college football game.

Everyone seems to think UNC is the favorite. I get it. Guys with Hawkins skillset have thrived in that role at UNC. But come on, if you want to watch college football you're better off staying in the Big 10 than go to the ACC. That conference couldn't even get a team in the playoff last year and Michigan won the damn thing. Only reason to go to an ACC school is so you can boo Dabo, which I'd completely understand that being a reason for Hawkins, especially when you know that Hawkins loves to troll.

But again, the lesson here is simple. Go to a school that has big sports programs. Go enjoy college football Saturday's, they really are the best part of college. You don't want to go to a place that doesn't have football. The hell you supposed to care about on a Saturday in the fall? On home games your schedule is already set. Tailgate, game, after party. Outside of national titles, there's no better party on a college campus than after a big football win.
