Josh Hart Did His Best To Try And Backpedal After Deciding To Dip His Toe Into The Completely Moronic Discourse Around Jayson Tatum

As we've (really just me) have been documenting since the Celtics punched their ticket to the NBA Finals, the discourse and narratives surrounding them as a team and each player has completely left planet earth. We don't need to go over them all, just check out the previous blogs if you're interested.

Well today, the discourse of the day has turned into a Jayson Tatum vs Derrick White debate. Yes, that's as insane as it sounds. The reason for this latest edition of brain rot comes via Josh Hart and his appearance on the Pivot Podcast

Listen, if there's one player in the league that knows about "impact", it's Josh Hart. He's incredible and was a HUGE reason the Knicks had the season he did. As a player, it's impossible to not love Josh Hart.

But as we've seen time and time and time again during this break, people lose their goddamn minds when it comes time to talk about the Boston Celtics and Jayson Tatum.

A take like this isn't all that surprising, considering it's the flavor of the month for any media outlet/podcast/etc to do their best to slander/discredit/diminish Jayson Tatum. It's truly one of the more bizarre things you'll ever see, but such is life. Of course, once this clip came out it became the leading topic on all the normal debate shows, and around and around we went.

After getting completely dragged for this take, Hart did it best to try and walk it back, saying he wants no part of the Tatum narrative

Leave him out of something….he created? 

Look at it like this. If someone said Josh Hart was more impactful than Jalen Brunson, what would that be deemed? That whoever said it was belittling Jalen Brunson, because that's what you're doing. You are literally saying this person is less than another person when it comes to impact. Aside from being completely inaccurate 

it's very lame to then try and play the 

"Leave me out of this!"

move when it's very possible to give credit and acknowledge Derrick White's impact and importance without mentioning Jayson Tatum. Ready? It's as simple as this

"Derrick White is such an impactful player for the Celtics, here's why"

and you can just leave it at that. Doing the whole

"You know what, I would say Derrick White is more impactful than Jayson Tatum"

out of nowhere is the very definition of pitting Derrick White against Jayson Tatum. Now, unlike what we see on the networks, I do not think Josh Hart had malicious intent in that clip. I think he was just trying to stress how impactful and important Derrick White is, because that's true. Bald Derrick's leap this year is a massive reason why the Celts had the season they did and why they are where they are. 

Part of me thinks Hart mentioned Tatum subconsciously because all we hear every single day is Tatum vs Player X. At least that's my hope. If he meant what he said and is only backtracking like this because he's been called out for it and doesn't want the heat, well that's pretty lame. If you're going to say something like that and believe it, well then stand on it. 

In fact, Derrick White's Dad once again had the best take out of all of this bullshit

The good news is we only have 7 more days of this bullshit.
