It's So Goddamn Cool That Rafa Nadal And Carlos Alcaraz Are Playing Doubles Together For Spain At The 2024 Summer Olympics

Besides the impending ass whooping that Team USA basketball is about to unleash on the rest of the world, the event I'm most excited to watch at the 2024 Summer Olympics is men's tennis. Big surprise from this guy. With the event being held at Roland Garros it should be very cool. How do you guarantee that? How about Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz teaming up in doubles for Spain?

In terms of clay court tennis this is like an aging Michael Jordan and young LeBron James joining forces. Nadalcaraz will take full flight at the end of the month as the King and Prince of Clay form an incredible duo. How will they fare? One being a lefty and the other being a righty will give them a deadly forehand on either side of the court, but being used to playing with each other on the court will be a test. Career doubles teams will surprise you with how well they handle a court. Sometimes you throw two elite singles players together and they go nuts like Kyrgios and Kokkinakis did in Australia a few years ago. Other times it just doesn't work. Either way this will be must watch.

Just think of this from Carlos' perspective. 8 years ago he was just a 13 year old kid who hoped to have a pro career in tennis. He grew up worshipping Rafael Nadal and got a chance to take a picture with him at his academy.

Fast forward to now. Alcaraz just became the youngest man to win a slam on all three surfaces. He's beaten Nadal on clay. Played with him at an exhibition in Vegas earlier this year. And now they're playing together as a doubles team in Rafa's final Olympics. Decent life I'd say.
