"What The Fuck?": Nobody Was More Surprised Beckette Sennecke Was Taken 3rd Overall In The NHL Draft Than Beckette Sennecke Himself
Beckette Sennecke is a great hockey player. He's had a couple of successful seasons with the Oshawa Generals in the OHL. He's 6'2" and while he has plenty of size, he has a ton of playmaking ability as well. Kid had 41 assists last year. He was always going to get drafted in the 1st round of this draft.
But this draft was pretty loaded up front. Macklin Celebrini. Artyom Levshunov. Ivan Demidov. Anton Silayev. Cayden Lindstrom. Zeev Buium. I don't know how many people would have thought Beckette Sennecke would hear his name called before at least half of those guys tonight.
Especially not Beckette Sennecke himself.
Kid got picked 3rd overall and looked like he thought Pat Verbeek just made a mistake. It looked like he realized he just busted his own mock draft. "Oh my god. What the fuck?". Hilarious reaction, and clearly a very humble kid. He'll get a chance to develop a little longer in the OHL and then gets to jump into an absolutely loaded young core of offensive weapons in Anaheim. It's hard not to root for a kid like this after that type of reaction. The Ducks believe in him, and hopefully being a 3rd overall draft pick helps him believe in himself some more.
