The Juan Soto Trade Is Already One Of The Most Lopsided Trades In MLB History And James Wood Hasn't Even Hit His First Of 600 Home Runs Yet

The word "fleeced" doesn't even begin to describe what happened here. Maybe we just use the word "National'd" from now on when a trade is so incredible lopsided that just 2 years later you look back and wonder how it even happened. The Padres traded an all-star team of prospects for 2 months and 1 season of Juan Soto.

CJ Abrams is only 23 years old and is one of the best shortstops in the game already. He could be an All Star this season and should end up with between 20-25 HRs.

Mackenzie Gore has been a roller coaster, but he's solidified himself as a rotation guy and is capable of fantastic outtings and should be around for a long time, as he's only 25 and hasn't even begun to peak.

Jarlin Susana is 6'6 and 20 years old throwing 100 MPH at Single A. Casual.

People were stunned Robert Hassell was also in the Soto deal, and he'll be in the majors in the next couple of years.

And then there is James Wood.

As if all those guys weren't enough, somehow the Padres also gave up 6'7, 235 pound James Wood. I mean the guy should be catching TDs in the NFL, but instead he's just mashing everything he sees, and will make his major league debut tomorrow.

I don't claim to watch every game, especially living up here in NYC, it's tough. But having a young core like this is how to get me to watch. The Nats won the WS and then lost basically everyone- Stras, Scherzer, Soto, Rendon, etc. But to then get back all these absolute studs in the Soto trade put the rebuild on a fast track unlike any other. You aren't supposed to be able to get so much back for one player- now granted that player was Juan Soto, but still, it's an unbelievable, franchise saving haul.

And you know, I feel this way about the Wizards too. They are finally doing a complete rebuild and it's an exciting time to be a Wiz fan.

The Caps just had a strong, STRONG draft weekend, and the Commies have Jayden Daniels, who is my bet for OROY.

It's truly a great time to be a DC sports fan, just stay patient and good things are to come.
