Booth Chronicles, Volume III: The $1 Million Journey Begins At Rupp Arena

The month of July usually means a slow month for the game of basketball. But this summer, that is certainly not the case. The Olympics are around the corner, and here in the United States, it's the 11th edition of The Basketball Tournament.

What is TBT? A 64-team tournament, where the winner gets $1,000,000. It's winner take all. There are a bunch of alumni teams, squads led by celebrities, and there was even an entry from our very own Million Dollaz Worth of Game. 

I was fortunate to get the opportunity to broadcast four TBT first round games over the weekend - two in Lexington, and two in Dayton. You can watch the highlights from our quadruple-header below...

It was a really cool experience and fun to call games for guys who were reconnecting with old friends and teammates while looking to make a run at the million bucks. I put together a behind-the-scenes video of the weekend here:

Some thoughts from that video that are worth writing out…

- The Rupp Arena ice cream is incredible. There was a lot of hype about it before I tried it, but worth every penny.

- The drive from Lexington to Dayton was surprisingly scenic. The Cincinnati skyline at the halfway point pops up out of nowhere, and it's very cool.

- UD Arena remains very underrated. I hope the First Four stays there for the rest of time.
