Football Season Has Officially Started Now That Dan Campbell Has Hit 40 Up-Downs, Gave A Passionate Speech About 'Work' And Grit To The Media

I always wonder when football season officially starts because it feels year-round these days. You go from the Super Bowl into Draft and free agency into OTA's and holdouts into training camp. It dominates the entire calendar because here in America we love football. But I think I figured it out. Football season officially starts when Dan Campbell hits his up-downs with the team. It's a tradition at this point, he does it every year. But it's not just up-downs. It's when he gives a passionate speech about grit and not working with reputation.

I know PMT likes to give out awards, especially for football guys. Think we've reached the point with Dan Campbell where he should receive a PMT lifetime achievement award for being a football guy. He embodies everything about the saying. He's the one coach who will actually go for it on 4th down more often than not. That's a step in the right direction. He talks about grit, biting kneecaps, all the football cliches that make people wearing helmets headbutt each other.

It is weird to know the Lions are coming into a season with expectations. Not even like 'hey, let's not suck and embarrass' ourselves expectations too. We're talking making a Super Bowl, being a contender, words we're not used to hearing with the Lions. I know Dan Campbell won't say that. He's going to lose his mind if he hears expectations because the Lions are ready to WORK, not live off of reputation. All I know is football is here. It's started and it's thanks to Dan Campbell.

PS: Perfect quote. Nailed it.
