Motivation 101: Australia's Basketball Coach Fired His Team Up For The Olympics By Showing Them A Video Of All The Times They Lost To Spain

Love this move because it's a classic coach move. I didn't know Australian basketball had that in them, I thought this was typically reserved for football (the American kind, not the Australian kind). Nothing like going into your first game against a team you keep losing to by being reminded Spain is your boogeyman. Can't say it didn't work:

My only complaint is he didn't somehow show them the video in the 4th quarter. You can't just remind them with words. We're talking about the Olympics here. You gotta find a way to sneak in an iPad and show them the clips of Spain ruining their time. That would have led to at least a 15-point win, which actually matters because of point differential being a tiebreaker.

Need a team to try and do this against America. I don't care that the world got better at basketball. We're still the USA. We still have the best 12 in the field by a longshot. Go ahead and show them clips of the US beating them (just leave out 2004. For the love of God leave out 2004).

Great move though. This is how you try to medal again. You remind the team that they stunk against Spain. Good luck figuring out a new strategy for game 2.
