Vibes Are So High In Jets Camp With Aaron Rodgers Back That Even Arguments End In Handshakes
Things are going VERY well in Jets camp. I don't want to get ahead of myself but not only is Aaron Rodgers back, but he could be REALLY back. He immediately hit Garrett Wilson on a 45 yard touchdown catch. It was a padless practice but that's an incredible sign after the guy played last year for about the length of a commercial break. Jets fans are so desperate for anything resembling decent quarterback play.
Today, the Jets have the pads on and Aaron Rodgers is still looking fantastic.
As good as that looks, this development made me very happy this weekend:
As the video shows, Aaron Rodgers and Garrett Wilson had a heated discussion at practice over the weekend. I have no idea what it's about. I've been playing a lot of NCAA Football 25 so I do feel credentialed enough to make an educated guess that they were arguing about running routes.
SOURCE - "I don't want to turn off the passion at all. He's a passionate guy. He's got a contagious energy about him. It's just when that passion becomes overly demonstrative, then we wanna scale it back a little bit. His passion is an asset. I don't want to turn any of that off," said Rodgers about the Jets WR1.
I don't hate any of this. I like the passion. The disagreement also ended with a nice handshake. Give me guys who want to win that badly any day.
My bigger question is wondering what the fuck is going on with Davante Adams? There was this clip from a couple weeks ago where Aaron Rodgers said he is excited to play with Adams "again".
To be fair, Adams agent quickly replied with:
SOURCE - The agents for Las Vegas Raiders receiver Davante Adams shut down rampant rumors and reports Tuesday that their client, a three-time first-team All-Pro and potential future Hall of Famer, was on the trading block.
"This is baseless, unfounded speculation, and Davante is expected to be with the Raiders as there has been absolutely no trade talk -- period," agents Kenny Chapman and Frank Bauer told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
There were also rumors last week tying him to a Brandon Aiyuk deal when he asked out of San Francisco. Sadly, I got way too excited about Adams going to Jets and it was probably just Aaron Rodgers saying crazy shit to get a stir out of people.
There are 39 days until the NFL season kicks for real. Hell, the pre-season kicks off with the Hall Of Fame game this THURSDAY. I guess trades can always happen but it feels like we've reached a point where the biggest names are likely staying put.
(Watch and there will be some major trade a few minutes after this blog gets posted so I look like a total asshole.)
The Jets still need to get the Hanson Reddick situation worked out. But I have confidence it will. There are few things more optimistic than a football fan in July.
As long as Aaron Rodgers remains upright.
