One of the big reasons that makes Summer Olympics so great is the spotlight that it puts on some sports that us Americans would rarely watch otherwise. An event that falls into that category, speaking for myself, is synchronized swimming and/or diving. The most experience I have watching something along these lines, other than the Olympics, is the opening scene in Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me:
