The Angels Are Promoting No. 8 Overall Pick Christian Moore to Double-A After a Grand Total of Two Games as a Professional
Christian Moore will presumably finish his career at the Single-A level having gone 6-11 with 3 XBH and 6 RBI in two games. He's being called up to Double-A before seven of the other nine Top 10 picks in this year's MLB Draft have even made their professional debuts.
The good news about getting drafted by the Angels is they'll call you up to the big leagues as soon as humanly possible if you prove you can handle it — the club called up 2023 first rounder Nolan Schanuel to Los Angeles after he played just 22 games in the minor leagues. The bad news is you got drafted by the Angels.
The quick call-up to Double-A for Moore isn't all that surprising, though. When you just got done hitting .375 in the SEC and then show up to Single-A and rip the cover off the ball, it's clear that level probably isn't going to do anything for you. So now the Angels will see how Moore hits against real pitching prospects and if he does the same thing, I'd imagine we'll see a second consecutive year in which the club brings up its first round pick in the year he was drafted. It's not like there's any talent on that team blocking young guys from coming up.
Bring CMo up to the big leagues this season, let him tear it up and then trade him and Ben Joyce to a team worth a shit in the offseason.
