Water Polo, Women's Hoops, The Wonton Don, And Unbelievable Steak Frites (Olympics Day 2 Recap From Paris)
The trip to Paris is going by quickly. Very quickly. A full video recap is above, but here are the highlights from Day 2 at the 2024 Olympics...
Breakfast: the crepes here are incredible. I started the day off with two of them: one cinnamon, and the other being strawberry. Absolutely delicious.
After that, it was time to head to the first event of the day. My first time ever watching WATER POLO in person...
The no halftime thing is NUTS! Is this the only sport that plays four quarters and doesn't take an extended break after two of them? It has to be. Just a two minute pause, and then it's onto the 3rd quarter. Also, the USA has a TON of catching up to do when it comes to concession stands. Those candy tubes are next level.
After Water Polo, it was off to Bercy Arena for the USA-Australia Women's Basketball Semi-Finals. America absolutely dominated from start to finish, and this game also gave me the opportunity to catch up with a college friend of mine, Noah Eagle. He has done an incredible job calling all of the USA basketball games on NBC over the last two weeks...
With that doubleheader in the books, I needed to grab a bite. I met up with Barstool producer John Kelly for an an incredible steak frites dinner at Le Relais de l'Entrecôte. It was one of the best meals that I've had in a long, long time, featuring two plates of steak and fries, plus incredible dessert options.
So good. So freaking good.
To wrap up the night, I met up with the one and only Wonton Don and joined him on a livestream at a local bar. It's always fun seeing the shenanigans that Donnie gets himself into when he is traveling…
Today is my last full day in Paris, and I've got tickets to an incredible doubleheader to wrap things up:
5 PM - Women's Soccer Gold Medal Match (USA vs. Brazil)
9 PM - Men's Beach Volleyball Gold Medal Match (Sweden vs. Germany)
One last ride at the Olympics. Here we go…
