9-Year Old Me Would Have Done Unspeakable Things to Attend Fanatics Fan Fest

Until last night I had no idea there was something called "Fanatics Fan Fest" happening this weekend in New York City. I'm not exactly sure what it is other than one big Fanatics promotional event. Ok, yes, I suppose that's exactly all it is. But based on the TikTok's and Twitter videos alone, if I were 9-years old seeing these videos, I would have done anything to be there. 9-year old me would have killed a hooker to be there. I would have learned what a hooker was, stolen money out of my dad's wallet, found the most irresponsible adult in Bowling Green, Ohio willing to drive me 30 minutes to Toledo where the hookers are, and then murder one with my bare hands if that would get me to Fanatics Fan Fest.

Even before the videos, if you presented child me with this list of games and activities that Fanatics Fan Fest promises a chance to partake in. I honestly think if my parents told me I would get zero Christmas or birthday presents for an entire year (maybe 2 years) if they took me to this, I would have agreed to those terms the spot.

Even as an adult, it looks pretty damn cool. Although I have to assume that in reality, if you were to buy a $50 ticket to attend, your time at the fan fest won't quite resemble what's shown on Twitter. I actually think there's a strong chance it would be hell on earth. With tickets being only $50, I'm sure the crowds are insane. It probably takes 3 hours of standing in line packed shoulder to shoulder with a bunch of strangers to get 15 seconds of face time with Jalen Brunson.

And I can only imagine the additional costs once your in the door. Come to think of it, as much as this would be 9-year old me's dream, it would probably have been my parents worse nightmare. Just a full day of dealing with crowds and me begging them for money to buy god knows what. I'd probably end up crying at some point because I wasn't able to do exactly what I wanted at all times. I just know there are some parents out there today going through absolute hell.

But on Twitter, The Javits Center this weekend looks like a young sports fans version of heaven. Shoutout to any kids (and even adults) braving the crowds this weekend.  Even if it's half as fun as it's made out to be online, it looks like a hell of a time.
