Clerk Helps Man Win $500,000 And The Man Hasn't Said A Word About Tipping Him
UPI News -- A Michigan man asked a store clerk to pick out a scratch-off lottery ticket for him and the selection led to a $500,000 prize.
The 55-year-old Kent County man told Michigan Lottery officials he was plagued by indecision during his visit to the Kent Mini Mart on South Main Street in Kent City.
"I buy instant tickets one or two times a month, but I don't usually play Cashword games," the player said. "I was at the store and had $10 in my pocket, so I asked the clerk to give me a $10 ticket, and he handed me this Luxury Cashword ticket."
The winner said his prize money will go toward buying a new house and a new truck.
First off, I hate the guy that helped pick a winner because I can't tell you how many times I have done this exact same thing and got bupkis as a result. Now I did ask a gas station attendant on the way up to Saratoga to pick a number 1-10 and he gave me 8, which ended up being the winner of the Travers, but I didn't play it because walking in there was a girl with a bin of plastic horses we had to choose from and Jerry and I both got 6 so we thought that was a sign. Brutal.
Regardless, everyone does this one way or the other by shifting their luck to someone else. "You pick the number" "You pick the scratch off" We all figure we have no chance of winning anyway, we might as well tell the staff to pick it and when we lose we have an excuse to be mad. In this case the exact opposite happened. The guy won.
In the article he says he will be buying a new house and a new truck. Not a single mention of how much he's breaking off to the clerk. What a scumbag! You HAVE TO … I MEAN HAVE TO give the guy a piece of the action. 10% would be extremely generous and standard in this case, and the guy hasn't said shit about it. What's he waiting for? I would have made sure it said in the article i was breaking the guy off for his good deed. Not this guy. Total scumbag. Someone start a Go Fund Me for this clerk ASAP!
