Red October Has Officially Come Early In Philly After Last Night's Comeback Win Against The Braves

August 29th. A full month before the postseason officially begins. And look at that reaction from the crowd. LOOK AT IT. That's what you get in Philly when the Braves come into town for a 4 game set that's the most important series of the season - by FAR. And props to the Phillies for stepping up and completing their mission. Well, at least in the second half of the game when they finally got their bats out of their collective sphincters. Also, Matt Olsen going yam 2x wasn't exactly ideal, either. Sorry about that one, Blooper.

The Phillies seemed to have each leadoff batter reach base to start every inning to only result in 0 runs and a negative clutch rating with RISP (yet again). After a 10-0 shutout loss at home to the Astros, it looked like things were going in the same direction. Even Orlando Arcia was doing his cringe shit - AGAIN - as the Braves took a 4-0 lead. Alec Bohm had to leave the game with a injury scare at the plate, as well (X-rays negative thank GOD).

And then, in the bottom of the 6th, after being 0-2 with 2 brutal strikeouts to Charlie Morton on the day, Brandon Marsh did the damn thing:

Beautiful. And then Nick Castellanos stepped up for the W in the very next inning. With 2 outs, mind you. If the man stays this hot throughout the playoffs every citizen in the Delaware Valley shall be required to get a Scooby Doo tattoo with Casty's jersey on the pup Super Hero:

I mean, that's what Championship teams do. They come thru in the clutch. And if guys like Brandon Marsh and Nick Casty are the heroes leading this train to a parade down Broad St., good. Sure, the guys like Bryce, Trea, and Schwarber are gonna have to slay out, regardless, but we'll take it any way we can.

Game 2 of 4 tonight. Big Ol' Nuts Ranger Suarez vs. Lopez. Let's (essentially) take down the division this week. Please. Go Phils.

PS - There is quite possibly no other athlete on the planet who is as cool when he's playing like a MVP but, conversely, you want to end him if he's doing that happy horseshit where he's swinging at every low and away off speed pitch 4-feet outside the zone on a 1-26 stretch. Stay hot, Nick. Not just for you, for all of us.
