We Finally Have An Answer On Why Hot Dogs And Buns Are Made In Different Amounts And It's Because Of Pans

NY Post- It would seem only natural that there be enough buns for frankfurters, but unfortunately for hot dog lovers the sausage-to-roll ratio is skewed heavily in the bread’s favor.

With some exceptions, dogs are typically sold in packs of ten while meat sheaths come in bundles of eight.

This means that at nearly every BBQ, there are usually at least two leftover dogs, leaving less finicky fans to gobble them with their hands.

The inequality is not because the sausage gods are cursing us; it was actually borne out of old convenience, The National Hot Dog and Sausage Council explains on its site.

“Sandwich rolls, or hot dog buns, most often come eight to the pack because the buns are baked in clusters of four in pans designed to hold eight rolls,” they wrote. “While baking pans now come in configurations that allow baking 10 and even 12 at a time, the eight-roll pan remains the most popular.”

Forever … I mean forever we have wondered why hot dogs come in 10's and buns come in 8. It's been one of the biggest pains in the ass in the world. Every single barbecue has people scrambling to buy an extra pack of buns and then they just sit there unused. It's infuriating. Forever we wondered why on earth this phenomenon was a thing and now we finally have an answer.

It's because of … of all things … the pans.

Of all the reasons for this annoyance, it's the pans in which they are cooked. I'm sure on some level this makes sense as to why they won't change but it's a revelation to find out that a pan is what's been causing such a pain in the ass across America for decades. Can we opt out of this? Can we start a Go Fund Me for bakeries to change to a 10 roll pan? Imagine if local packagers announced they were going to shift to a 10 pack? It would be the most popular thing in the world. They would have a monopoly on the market. Unfortunately I don't see that happening and we're gonna be stuck with this bullshit 8pack for 10 dogs forever because of a pan.

Only in America.
