Texas Went Into the Big House and Absolutely Humiliated Michigan
Texas went to Ann Arbor as a touchdown favorite and left looking like a bona fide national title contender after having its way with Michigan. The Wolverines looked as thoroughly outmatched as they have been probably since they played Georgia in the College Football Playoff three years ago.
Some of the story is definitely how bad Michigan looked, but the Longhorns are unquestionably going to be in the mix for the national championship. Texas didn't even really have a bunch of explosive plays, it just methodically and repeatedly moved the football down the field for scores and played smothering defense. Imagine what this final score would have looked like if Steve Sarkisian was looking to push the ball downfield to Isaiah Bond all day.
But even with as good as Texas is, there's no excuse for Michigan looking this bad. This team has to replace a ton of production from last year's championship team and I'm not quite to what degree it will be able to do so. Davis Warren doesn't seem like the ideal guy to have under center in a year you're trying to defend a national championship and have games left against Ohio State, USC and Oregon.
This was a statement win for Texas, though. Sark and Co. are going to be a problem.
