Levi Anderson Sends The Whipsnakes Back To The PLL Championship With An Overtime Dagger For The Ages

2019 was the inaugural season for the Premier Lacrosse League. The championship game was played in Philadelphia and it was Philly native, Matt Rambo, scoring an overtime winner to give the Whipsnakes the first title in league history. They won the title again in 2020, and then lost in the championship game in 2021.

5 years later and the Whipsnakes are making another trip to Philly for Championship Sunday. And this time it's thanks to a good ol' Canadian boy who played his college lacrosse in Philadelphia, Levi Anderson.

Here's the thing. I get it. It's a college football Saturday. Not the greatest slate of games on the CFB schedule today, but I know that there probably weren't a ton of people out there watching lacrosse this afternoon. But if you were smart enough to at least catch the end of this game, you were treated to an unreal show. The 4th quarter gave us a huge Whipsnakes comeback from being down 3-goals to tie the game at 11-11. The Atlas had their chances to get back in the lead before the end of regulation, but pissed all those chances away.

Then we got to overtime with what might have been 8 of the most intense minutes in professional lacrosse history. Each team had a couple of possessions with chances to end the game. Each offense looked like they were just a little too nervous to make the first mistake. Each goalie made a couple of big time stops. Everybody is expecting either Matt Rambo or Jeff Teat to get it done for their team. And then out of nowhere here comes Levi Anderson.

He's the owner of one of the most devastating swim dodges in all of lacrosse. Swim. Shot. Score. And now the Whipsnakes are heading back to play in their 4th championship game in the league's 6-year history. Meanwhile the Atlas, who were the best team in the league during the regular season, are yet to get over that hump and play in a final.

What a game. What an ending. And the good news is that we have one more tonight with the Chaos taking on the Archers now in the 2nd semifinal game.
