'Fuck You. Go Fuck Yourself' - Jim Furyk Doesn't Want To Hear That Anyone Is Cheering For The International Team To Win The Presidents Cup
Hell yeah, Jim. This is exactly what I want from a captain. I don't care if it's Presidents Cup, Ryder Cup, whatever cup you want to throw out there, give me a guy like Jim Furyk who wants to rip the head off his opponent. No prisoners mentality. Obviously the Presidents Cup feels like the little brother to the Ryder Cup. It's not talked about as much, it's also way more one-sided with the US winning all but 2 times (one was a tie). Good. That's what I want whenever anyone plays for the red, white and blue.
I get that when it's competitive and you really don't know who is the favorite to win something it tends to be a better event. But, in the words of Jim Furyk, fuck you. We need a win, especially what happened in last year's Ryder Cup. We can't lose the Presidents Cup in Canada now too. We need these guys to experience winning, get back on the right track and get some momentum for next year's Ryder Cup at Bethpage. It's honestly a breath of fresh air to hear Furyk talk like this compared to whatever Zach Johnson did as captain. This is what you want a captain to sound like, not being diplomatic and golly gee, let's see what happens. No, if you think the International Team needs to win or if you're cheering for them, you can quote Jim Furyk telling you to fuck off.
I don't even think Fuyrk sounds like a hardo here. This is what every coach or leader in any sport should sound like. Remember, he was the Ryder Cup captain in 2018 when we got destroyed in France. He's probably still pissed about that. He probably wants revenge no matter who or what event he's the captain in.
Every single person playing something athletic should want to go undefeated. It's also cool to care about shit. Jim Furyk clearly cares about the Presidents Cup. Don't let anyone try to talk down to you for caring about something, especially if you're participating in it. So next week I hope Furyk, Scottie, Xander, Morikawa, Wyndham Clark, Cantlay, Theegala, Sam Burns, Russell Henley, Keegan Bradley, Brian Harman and Max Homa shut out the International Team. Just a smooth 30-0 win.
