Squatters In California Have Completely Taken Over a 10,000 Sq Ft, $6.5 Million Dollar Hollywood Hills Mansion Owned By Philadelphia Phillies Owner John Middleton's Son, And Aren't Giving It Back
FOX LA- It's quite an eyesore… a Hollywood Hills mansion is completely covered in graffiti.
The abandoned home was taken over by squatters.
Neighbors in the area of Mulholland and Multiview drives say they have been threatened and confronted by the squatters, some of whom were armed. A neighbor says the property has been a problem for a couple of years.
"For at least two years. We know it's been empty. They tried to find the owner," said Karin Gideon, a Hollywood Hills resident. "They couldn't get [them]. And then they finally did. And he doesn't want to have anything to do with it."
A public records search shows the home belongs to John Middleton, whose father owns the Philadelphia Phillies baseball team.
The search also shows Middleton hasn’t paid taxes in years, and there is a lien on the property. Middleton reportedly owns another Hollywood Hills home that is also heavily targeted by squatters.
Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department escorted people out of the house, but neighbors said the squatters returned hours later. The same neighbor told ABC 7 News the abandoned mansion is a magnet for crime.
"Apparently, some squatters came and actually attacked one of the neighbors with steel rebar and a beer bottle," the neighbor said.
Alright, what the hell is going on in California, man?
We have packs of homeless people taking over abandoned mansions in the Hollywood Hills? Seriously?
Yah. Seriously.
Believe it or not, the guy who owns this house that Mary J. Blige used to rent, owns another Hollywood Hills mansion that is also being overran and claimed by squatters. You can't make this shit up.
The property owner is John P. Middleton, son of Philadelphia Phillies owner John Middleton.
And as much as you want to make fun of the guy for being a cuck, for allowing his properties to be overran by the kid in your college dorm building who wore the Che Guervera shirt and was always handing out Karl Marx literature, and his buddies, you can't, because this makes zero sense.
On what planet does "the law" protect people that DO NOT own a property over the person that actually DOES own the property? Make this make sense for me somebody, please.
Can you imagine if you paid a few million dollars for this place, and probably half a million a year in Los Angeles county taxes and insurance for a place, and while you're trying to flip it, or rent it out, this happens?
(Or if you're a billionaire's son you probably have zero concept of money and don't give a fuck about this. Which is probably the case with this whole thing.)
What's really nuts about this is you have these homeless fucks shacking up in a 10,000 sq ft place for free. I have friends who live in like 500 sq ft and pay $6,000 a month to do so. What a kick in the balls that has to be seeing something like this and people like these squatters who have life all figured out.
(UPDATE - This happened because, as the article points out- "The search also shows Middleton hasn’t paid taxes in years, and there is a lien on the property.". I am an idiot. Sorry)
p.s. - wondering how the hell something like this can even happen? Well for 1, California. Obviously. But 2, because this -
You had these fucking weirdo LA people posting walkthrough videos on Youtube showing the place off, bragging that it was abandoned, and formerly lived in by Mary J Blige, broadcasted to the world, basically inviting cretans to move on it. Clean it up guys.
p.p.s. - do you ever see stories like this about squatters and feel like the biggest sucker in the world for paying for everything out the ass? Me too.
