The Oakland A'ss Hat Is Real And It's Spectacular

Giphy Images.

Remember when everyone was upset at the beginning of the baseball season because MLB and Fanatics made a mockery of the game's uniforms in what we all imagined was another cost cutting move? Well I may have to take back some of the stuff I said about those two awful companies now that they are calling out the mockery of a franchise known as the Oakland A's in hat form.

Just kidding, those two places still suck. Ironically it's because of their sucktitude that this hat made it through all the quality checks to hit the internet before it started going viral. That then led to someone on the backend having to click the Out Of Stock button so every man, woman, child, and dog in Oakland couldn't buy a hat calling their team ASS right before it abandons them for whatever fucked up stadium situation John Fisher moves his team into next so he can collect money from the MLB owners that actually pay to field a competitive team. Capitalism at its finest!

I'd go on a rant about how backwards the state of baseball is where an owner like Fisher can do what he did with his team while an owner like Steve Cohen that wants to spend big to make his team a perennial powerhouse had an actual tax implemented to curb him from doing so.

But let's be honest, nobody really cares about baseball's problems anymore because we've known what they are for a while now and we don't care about the sport the way we used to (Unless you are a baseball sicko like Klemmer or Meek Phill). I mean we still love living in the bubble of rooting for our favorite teams the same and will be hooked to the drama that unfolds over the next month in the playoffs. However, the amount of juice surrounding the game is a fraction of what it was in the 90s/00s before the records became meaningless, the players became numbers on a spreadsheet, and owners were exposed for being the heartless penny pinching cheapskates that cry poverty when their fans ask them to spend a bit to sign a free agent or simply keep their own beloved homegrown players.

I'd say we could make the A'ss hat the official hat of Major League Baseball in general that the umps could wear them instead of the MLB logo hats, much like they did with those sweet AL and NL hats back in the day.

But at this point in just feels like piling on baseball and the umps. At some point we will get robo umps, a few more good rule changes like the pitch clock will make games better at the expense of the history of the game, and baseball will fade to the background of the sports landscape due to greed like boxing and horse racing. Okay, I'm starting to grumble like an old dinosaur baseball writer. So I'm gonna put this rant on ice and instead try to find an Oakland A'ss hat from a site that hasn't marked it as Sold Out yet.
