Gerrit Cole is Such a Goofy, Awkward Fella And I Love Him

The Yankees clinched the AL East tonight. They're popping all the Ace of Spades bottles the Bronx can hold. After a few nights where they failed to get it done against Baltimore, Gerrit Cole stepped up tonight and shoved. Ace shit. Afterwards he got a well deserved dousing of champagne and beer. His reaction was perfect. Fast forward to the 1:20 mark.

So awkward I can't get enough of it. Fantastic interview. On the field he's a psychopath, but off of it he's just a goofy dad who feels like he'd be perfect for a Tim Robinson sketch.

Cole has been clicking at the right time and seems to be back to his Cy Young level entering October. Boston stopped caring about making the playoffs, so spare me any of those jokes with Cole. Don't have to worry about it!

To no surprise, it was a roller coaster of a regular season for the Yankees. Started out great, but the moment Stanton went down they forgot how to play baseball. Cole missed the first two months and struggled upon returning. Finally a little bit into the 2nd half they started to click again and get back on track. Aaron Judge has 58 homers and is sleep walking to another MVP. Juan Soto is having an incredible first season in New York. Jazz Chisholm's arrival was a huge boost. Gleyber found himself as a leadoff hitter after a nightmare 1st half. Austin Wells emerged as a trusted bat. Rizzo isn't concussed anymore. Luis Gil put together a great rookie season and should hoist the hardware when the time comes. Carlos Rodon was up and down, but was still a big improvement from 2023. The bullpen has been a massive work in progress, but seems to have fortified itself as we enter October, just keep Clay Holmes away from the mound. They're loaded and SHOULD clinch the one seed over the weekend. We've seen this story before, but the AL is wide open this season. Hell, all of baseball is. There's no clear cut team to beat. The Yankees have positioned themselves the best they possibly can to go deep and win this thing. Only one thing left to do.
