When Ball Is Life Goes Wrong: A Fan Got Ejected At The Suns/Lakers Preseason Game For Trying To Get Some Shots Up From The Crowd
The Suns and Lakers continued their preseason battles last night in Palm Springs with the Suns pulling out the narrow 118-114 victory, but that is not the point of this blog. People often say preseason games don't matter (wrong), but in opinion, that couldn't be further from the truth. For some, ball truly is life. Sometimes that means putting stock into what you're seeing on the floor heading into the season, and sometimes that means fucking up your life a little bit because you decide to try and get shots up and therefore immediately get arrested
I mean, is getting shots up not what the preseason is supposed to be about? Granted, most rational people understand that's for the players and not the fans, but at the same time….ball is life. Sometimes you get the urge to let one fly and you lose all sense of self-control. We can't all be Hank, someone who somehow found the strength to pull this one back when he clearly could have (and probably would have) cashed this corner three during the Finals that should not be mentioned
So on one hand I can sort of understand where that fan was coming from. The thing is, if you are actually going to do something like this you need to be positioned in a way to where your shot has a chance. Directly behind the backboard like that? Well, now you're just being an asshole. Taunting the ref, being a dick, and then not even coming close to making your shot is going to get you kicked out and arrested every single time. Now, instead of being a hero, you're getting clowned by LeBron and KD while everyone else in the stands points and laughs at you getting arrested. That's tough
Not only that, even his getting dragged-out of the arena performance was a disaster. Everyone knows that when you find yourself in this situation, you go dead legs. It's a Day 1 move that has been flawlessly executed by the best of the best
As you can see, that fan went about it all wrong. He tried to fight his way free. I'm sure at some point in his drunk mind he probably thought he had the strength to escape, but what's even the plan there if you do get away? You're essentially trapped. You may as well go dead leg and be a pain in the ass to carry out of the arena, so this is all really just a complete fumbling in every aspect from this guy who now is probably going to be banned from every NBA arena for life and now is going to have to deal with the ramifications of all this in his real life. Talk about Sunday Scaries.
