The Phillies Bats Always Find A Way To Be Complete Dog Shit When They Need Them The Most

What do you even say after a game like that? Just a completely pathetic performance from literally every single person involved within the Phillies organization. Another postseason where the bats just go ice cold. It's not just a one or two guys who completely forget what they're doing every time they step into the batters box, but it's the whole damn team. It seems statistically impossible for the whole team to forget how to hit at the same time, yet the Phillies have managed to do it 3 consecutive years in the postseason.

It's one thing if these fucking idiots aren't going to stack hits together. The least they can do is at least have an ounce of plate discipline and try to run those pitch counts up. The least they can do is put some pressure on the Mets' arms. At this point I can't tell if this team is just too stupid to have that discipline, or maybe they simply don't care. Either way, this is a goddamn problem.

I hate to be the "UNACCEPTABLE" guy, but that's unacceptable. This team knows what they need to do. They've said before that they need to start working the pitch counts more. And they just….don't. Ever. They never make any sort of adjustments at all and everyone just waits for Bryce to take a bunch of hero hacks at the ball to hopefully get them back in it. It's maddening.

And sure, this game doesn't fall on the arm of Aaron Nola. He pitched a relatively decent game that got away from him in the 6th inning. But at no point did Nola's performance tonight inspire any hope. At no point did he give the team or the fans any reason to feel comfortable. The Mets were tagging the shit out of him left and right, and it was only a matter of time before the blowup came. Shockingly the Phillies only gave up 2 in that 6th inning because it could have been so much worse.

And let's hear it for Dave Dombrowski, guys! All I ever hear is people sucking off Dave Dombrowski for what a legendary GM this man is. I mean where on Earth would this team be right now without Austin "Willy Mays" Hays.

What a pickup that guy was. Sure, the superstars need to do their jobs. The Phillies need more out of Schwarber, they need more out of Turner, they need more out of Realmuto, and as much as it feels unfair to say they still need more out of Harper. But for the love of god, man. It's 3 postseasons in a row where the backend of the lineup and the bullpen are beyond liabilities. And Dave Dombrowski did nothing about it at the deadline.

The only thing I'll give Dombrowski is that it doesn't matter who he could have picked up at the deadline, Rob Thomson would still find a way to make all the wrong lineup decisions anyway.

That was one of those games that shows that there are MAJOR flaws within this organization right now that call for serious changes. Even if somehow this team magically pulls a series win out of their ass (which seems highly unlikely that the series will even come back to Philly for a game 5 right now), there needs to be some sort of overhaul. Because what they have right now just isn't working in the slightest.

The vibes have left the building.
