Everyone Doubting Indiana Basketball Can Only Mean One Thing: Indiana Basketball Is Officially BACK

The numbers have been crunched using massive super computers and complicated scientific algorithms - according to the KenPom rankings there isn't much hype around the Indiana Hoosiers.  A lackluster ranking of 39 in the standings. and right in the middle of the pack at 10th in the Big Ten is nothing to write home about, but is this the best case scenario for IU basketball?

NO ONE hypes up the Hoosiers like Hoosier fans. I'm part of the problem. I've declared Indiana basketball officially back for approximately the last 8 seasons - spoiler alert - they are not back. The Archie years looked so promising!

I don't think I've ever seen a season where Indiana has exceeded preseason expectations. Maybe the 2002 national title run where Mike Davis still had Bob Knights team? After that historic run in the big dance, every season has gotten my hopes sky high with big name recruits and coaching changes, only to leave me a a puddle of sadness and shattered expectations. If only Eric Gordon didn't break his wrist … 15 years ago. But thank god we got self righteous and self reported Kelvin Sampson, it's not like he's sitting at #1 in the KenPom poles.

BUT will this season be different? Woody did what he hasn't done before by getting guards out of the transfer portal, and even doing what he does best - bringing in a big man to mold and shape for the NBA. This got the fan base excited and out IU in the top 25 AP poll, but the recent KenPom rankings haves seemed to put a damper on the vibes surrounding the program.

History would say if the numbers have Indiana at 39, they'll finish lower, but this is all about a feeling. Now that the expectations are lower there is no way Indiana doesn't play well. Indiana has switched to a football school. The mindset is now to prove the haters wrong, it's Indiana vs Everyone. So thanks to the doubters and the haters I'm ready to declare THE Indiana Hoosiers basketball program officially BACK. SEE YOU ALL IN MARCH.
