Shut It Down: Deshaun Watson Officially Has A Torn Achilles And His Season Is Over
Not that we needed any more confirmation after the video evidence yesterday literally showed his Achilles tendon popping out of his leg, but Deshaun Watson is officially done for the year. If the asshole Browns cheered while he lay on the field unable to walk, they're probably thrilled now that he is unable to play. I know this is a ridiculous thing to say, but for one second, put the off the field issues aside.....and it's really not too bad that he can't be our quarterback anymore this year.
Yikes. That is flat out terrible. And don't get me wrong, it's not like the team is going to get any better if we trot Jameis or DTR out there (but imagine if we do), but when you pay someone $230,000,000 guaranteed to be your quarterback, he needs to be better than that in Year 3. But it's not even just Year 3 that's been the problem. I have a feeling that his entire career here in Cleveland is done. I mean, how can he come back and be the franchise QB when his last time on the field was him getting carted off while the fans cheered? He's gotta be fucking done with this fan base. Lord knows they've been done with him for a long time.
And if that is in fact the case that he's done in Cleveland, what a horrific experience that was. $230,000,000 for this:
Folks this is not hyperbole to say that the Browns trade with the Texans for Deshaun Watson will go down in the worst in the history of sports. Three 1st round picks??? To fuck your salary cap? For THIS? I like Andrew Berry but it's impressive he'll keep his job through this.
Anyways, forget where the Browns go from here, where would Deshaun go from here? Who would pay him? It is one thing to bring in his baggage when you think he's a 4,000 yard passer and MVP candidate like he was in Houston. But if he's a below .500 QB that is more likely to throw the ball 10 feet short or 10 feet into the stands than to his actual target, then why bother? He's not a starter in this league anymore. And Lord knows you don't want that kind of bad PR for a backup….
