Tom Holland Is Joining Matt Damon For Christopher Nolan's New Movie

(THR) Tom Holland will star in Christopher Nolan’s latest feature, joining Matt Damon in the top secret venture.Nolan wrote the script and is directing the project, which Universal Pictures will distribute. The studio has set a release date of July 17, 2026.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but sources say the setting is not present day (although it’s unclear whether it’s set in the past or the future). The new feature reunites Nolan with the studio that made his drama Oppenheimer and propelled him to his first Oscars. He won best director and got a statue a producer for best picture on the film, which earned a staggering $976 million worldwide.

There are two big notes to hit on here.

Just on the surface level, this is sounding great already. A new movie with Nolan? Check. Like I always say, he is the ultimate unicorn. The one director that has a perfect record satisfying both critics and audience members while always turning a profit. Adding Damon? Also check. They obviously get each other or they woudn't keep collabing. Now Tom Holland is where it gets interesting...

Holland is obvious a big name in the up-and-coming actor world. He plays the #3 all-time superhero, he has been in multiple movies that have made $2 Billion+ at the box office. He is dating one of the biggest "it girls" in Zendaya. People know this dude! And yet, his work outside of the MCU has really been suspect. Since 'Spider-Man: Homecoming', here are his starring roles (live action):

- The Devil All the Time | 65% RT | Streaming release

- Chaos Walking | 21% RT | Lost roughly $100 Million

- Cherry | 37% | Streaming release

- Uncharted | 40% | Made roughly $300 Million

- The Crowded Room (miniseries) | 33% RT

I think Holland is a good actor but he really needs a win here. And, to be honest, there is no better director on earth to hitch your wagon to.
