Hockey Guy: Claude Giroux Used To Walk Into The Philadelphia Eagles Locker Room And Challenge Anybody To Arm Wrestle

First things first, it's a good question posed here in the clip. There are certainly some skills from hockey that would carry over to making a great football player, but the games are just so different that I don't know how many crossovers there would be. Eric Lindros is definitely a great answer. I think Gordie Howe, especially if you had him playing in the NFL in the 60s and 70s, would also be able to make it. Maybe a guy like Dustin Byfuglien could be a lineman. Maybe a guy like Scott Stevens could be a linebacker. There would definitely be more guys in the NHL who could make it to the NFL than the other way around, but that's still only like 5 or 6 guys if we're really thinking about it.

Now onto the biggest bit of breaking news from this clip--Claude Giroux walking into the Eagles facility and challenging anyone to arm wrestle. This is exactly what made Claude Giroux a perfect captain for the Philadelphia Flyers for all those years. That's what being a Flyer is all about. It's the exact type of thing that Ed Snider would have wanted out of anybody wearing the Flying P on their chest.

That's also what's so great about the Philadelphia Sports Complex and having all 4 teams playing together in the same spot. That's what the Sixers are trying to take away from you right now. Where else are you able to get 4 different teams from the 4 major sports in America all just casually crossing paths enough for a guy like Claude Giroux to just randomly drop into the Eagles locker room and ask to arm wrestle anybody? That's nowhere but South Philly.

I'd also love to know what Claude's record was in those arm wrestling matches. I hope he went in there and beat the bag off of everyone during the "Dream Team" year. At the very least I hope he worked Vince Young and Juan Castillo.

Sidenote: Need to find a way to get Claude back in Philly while there is still a little gas left in the tank. Need to see 28 out there with Michkov.
