Freddie Freeman Crushes Yankee Fans Hearts With a Walk Off Grand Slam To Win Game 1 Of The World Series
Game 1 of the World Series was the perfect heart attack rollercoaster, edge of your seat game that is spawned out of October baseball. It's what separates the sport from any other postseason atmosphere. Unfortunately for Yankees fans, it was met with pure misery in the end.
Nestor Cortes hadn't pitched since September 18th. He gave quotes to the media like his injury he was pitching through could easily sideline him through the entire 2025 season. Despite all that, Aaron Boone decided he was the man for the job to bail the Yankees out of the 10th inning and win the game with the tying run on 2nd. Tim Hill, someone who has been masterful with his work in the postseason, was ready to go as well, but was passed on for a guy who has done nothing but throw simulated innings over the last few weeks. The decision burned Boone and killed the Yankees in Game 1 of the World Series. It may very well go down as one of the worst decisions in postseason history. Me personally, I woulda rode Weaver another inning and lived with my best guy deciding the game. Lotta outs to get for him no doubt, but that's where my head went in the moment. Never did I say Nestor should be in there.
Things ruined from this game? A brilliant, legacy building start from Gerrit Cole. Jazz Chisholm awakening with multiple hits and stolen bases. ANOTHER icon Giancarlo Stanton homer. Gutsy outs from Clay Holmes, Tommy Kahnle, and Luke Weaver. And a $40k bonus bet from Draft Kings for me.
Gotta flush it away somehow. We've got Game 2 tomorrow. Find a way to even it up heading back to the stadium. The Dodgers are an amazing team, the Yankees are right there with them. Tonight Aaron Boone fucked them.
P.S. Aaron Judge, what the fuck man?
