While 'Predator: Badlands' Was Already Set To Be Released In Theaters Next Year, It Turns Out A Second 'Predator' Movie Was Secretly Made By The Same Director And Will Also Be Coming Out in 2025

Hand up, I totally forgot we were getting another Predator movie next year. Well, turns out we're getting two now. Not entirely sure how you can film a movie secretly, but Dan Trachtenberg seems to have pulled that off.

I grew up loving the OG Predator movie. It being made in 1987 and still holding up to this day is crazy impressive. Predator 2 and The Predator are very forgettable movies. Predators wasn't terrible, but also not great either. The first AVP is a typical FX movie for me, that is on all the time and if I'm not doing anything I'll leave on. AVP Requiem is horrendous and filmed completely in the dark to distract from the piece of shit that it is. Prey was a breath of fresh air to the franchise. Basically plopped Predator in the 1700s to battle Native Americans and adapt to their weapons. That movie rocked and this scene where he takes everyone out in the forest is as good as it gets.

The movie kinda spurned the question of what if we just threw Predator in all sorts of different eras to see how he'd handle the situation. Revolutionary War, the Age of the Samurai, dinosaurs/cavemen, etc. While I'm not entirely sure this upcoming Badlands movie is going to follow that theme, I'm willing to be optimistic about the mysterious premise with how well Prey turned out through Trachtenberg's vision.

But now we're getting an additional movie? Feels next to impossible to film a movie without anyone knowing it. Someone speculated it was an animation, but the time it would take to do that feels impossible. Was it just an idea that came up during Badlands and everyone agreed to just make two movies at the same time? Either way, I'm very excited to see these. With how awesome Alien: Romulus turned out, maybe we are heading towards an AVP retry, this time done the right way.
