Philly Sports Fans Deserve Answers After Scumbag Yankees Fan Is Treated Like Some Folk Hero

The double standard in sports fandom has never been more egregiously apparent than it has been today. I'm sick to my stomach right now at how unjustly vilified Philly fans have become in the media when it's so obvious that New York fans are bigger pieces of shit.

I can understand everybody laughing at the incident last night. Prisoner of the moment and everything. But I expected to wake up this morning and have every show in America leading off with a 30-minute segment condemning these fans. Calling them a disgrace to baseball, and a disgrace to humanity. And I'm not just talking about SportsCenter and Get Up and First Take. We're talking every morning show on every station. CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, you name it.

Because if what happened last night at Yankee Stadium happened in the city of Philadelphia, you know damn well the National Guard would have already been called in. You'd see petitions to have Philly stripped of all our professional teams. They'd want that fan sent to Guantanamo, and folks debating on whether or not they should just wipe Philly off the map entirely. But because it's New York? Every show is leading with talking about the actual baseball game. About how the Yankees were able to stave off elimination, and if the Dodgers should be worried about a miraculous comeback in the series. Ummmmmm what?

And it's not like they're just ignoring these goombah dipshits. But you've got ESPN running their PR machine in overtime to turn them into heroes.

Now here's the thing that I don't want to get mixed up here. I don't have any issue with what these smacked asses did last night. We can't act like there was a zero percent chance they could have broke Mookie Betts' hand and then we'd have a serious scenario on our hands. But that didn't happen, so it falls under the category of "no harm, no foul" for me.

The only thing I have a qualm with here is that if this was Citizens Bank Park, the entirety of the national media would already be out front of that dude's house trying to completely sewer his life. There would be hit piece after hit piece. But he's a goombah from New York so it's not even a story today. They've already turned the page to talking about Anthony Richardson getting benched in Indianapolis. One of these days Philly is going to get its revenge. Until then…
