A Vanderbilt LB Posted an Insane Text From an Auburn Coach During His Recruitment After Beating the Tigers on Saturday
This league!!!
Vanderbilt linebacker Bryan Longwell kept this receipt for two years, just waiting for this moment. And then the Commodores went to Auburn on Saturday and got a 17-7 win, providing the opportunity for Longwell to get the ultimate payback.
Just for this kid's sake, I'm glad Vandy won that football game because whatever coach sent that text is one of the world's biggest pieces of shit — I have my guess as to who on the Auburn staff it may have been, but you can guess for yourself. You text a kid telling him that he's going to have to find somewhere else to go to school at 6 a.m. on Christmas Day?! I understand recruiting is a 24/7/365 business and you want to be up front and give the kid as much time as possible to find a different landing spot, but I think everyone could have waited until December 26 to deliver that news.
Longwell was never committed to Auburn — at least publicly — so that makes it 1 percent less shitty I guess, but keeping that text for two years and eventually going to Jordan-Hare Stadium as an opponent and holding the Tigers to seven points had to feel unbelievable.
I wonder if sending that text is the worst thing that coach has ever done with a university-issued cell phone.
