This Is What It Looks Like When A Motorcycle Gets The "Death Wobbles" And Slides Under An 18 Wheeler On The Highway

Sometimes. Most of the time it ends up with them being flattened like a pancake.

Little known (or maybe some people know) fact about me: I love motorcycles. I grew up riding them and recently purchased a brand-spankin-new Ducati to rip around on outside of the city. It's fun, it's fast, and it allows me to clear my mind of everything other than the task at hand - riding. When I rode to Tennessee this summer my screen time was just 45 minutes. That's down from nearly nine hours per day in New York. I could write 10,000 words about why motorcycling is great, but Tom Papa describes it perfectly on Bert Kreischer's podcast...

The margin for error is so small that you need to be hyper-focused that way you don't die.

Having said that, sometimes things happen that are out of your control. Death wobbles can be one of those things and let me tell you...it is TERRIFYING. Most of the time they happen when you're going super fast, but this guy appeared to be doing the speed limit and he still got them. Maybe his front end was screwed up? Maybe he hit a bump? Who knows, but basically death wobbles (or "tank slappers") is when your handlebars start shaking so uncontrollably that you lose control of the bike and crash. Which is why that guy in the video needs to buy a lottery ticket STAT. Not only did he survive the initial fall, he survived SLIDING UNDER A TRUCK. That simply does not happen. If the crash doesn't get you, the other cars will. Wild. Anywho, wish me luck riding this weekend. Fingers crossed that if I go down, I go down like this guy. Thanks for reading.
